Paul was appointed as Chairman of LCU in March 2024 and brings nearly 30 years of financial services experience to the role.
Formally Group Managing Director and Executive Director at OneSavings Bank Group, he previously held senior roles with Banks and Building Societies including Charter Savings Bank, Shawbrook Bank, Kent Reliance, B&B, Santander, Yorkshire Building Society, HSBC, and First Direct. He now provides Board Advisory and Consultancy services to a variety of Startup and Challenger Banks, and Fintechs. Paul also serves on the Board of Directors with the Citizen’s Advice Bureau in Scotland, to champion the needs of the underserved and vulnerable.
Nicholas has been in financial services for over 16 years starting his career in a Credit Union in South Australia. From branch management, distribution and through to building financial products Nicholas has considerable experience in delivering products that will meet the needs of serving our members.
Nicholas currently works in the technology space supporting lenders utilise data to build and service financial products.
Yalini is a Director and Senior Advisor at a financial advisory and global consulting firm, specialising in operational and conduct risk management, compliance and corporate governance, with over 20 years of professional experience spanning both in-house and consulting roles.
Yalini leads on the design and implementation of enterprise risk management frameworks, in addition to developing and embedding risk culture change programmes. She also leads regulatory examinations and investigations related to compliance to current and emerging regulatory requirements. Yalini has a postgraduate diploma in Governance, Risk and Compliance (GRC) from the International Compliance Association (ICA).
Sameera is an Accountancy and Commercial Finance professional with extensive experience within financial services. Her broad background across a number of areas of finance allows Sameera to provide both strategic direction and an understanding of the complex drivers of profitability.
With many great achievements in her career, Sameera was awarded ‘Colleague of the Year’ in her first year at Skipton Building Society for revolutionising the Society’s approach to financial planning and successful leadership.
Katherine is a senior development manager working to secure philanthropic funding for a Russell Group University to deliver its strategic priorities to 2030. Her role involves connecting academics, industry, individuals and institutional leaders to develop and deliver programmes of research, student support, enterprise and civic engagement.
Katherine also worked for a global US non-profit grant maker, and is an accredited trainer for a UK charity focused on digital literacy and skills.
Tina Turnbull is the former Chief Executive of People Matters, a Leeds-based disability organisation and charitable social care provider with approximately 350 members, staff and volunteers. She is also a governor of LYPFT, a local NHS trust and a Leeds City Council Inclusive Growth Ambassador. With a professional background in education and workforce development, Tina has held different board roles including being Chair of both Leeds City College and Leeds Citizens Advice.
Chris is the Club Exec (Managing Director) of Club Murray where he is responsible for 100 consultants who deliver digital products and cloud solutions for AND Digital’s clients across Yorkshire.
Chris has also been an active volunteer with the British Computer Society in West Yorkshire for the past 20 years.
Heather is a Registered Project professional and Change Management specialist, who has worked in the civil service for over 30 years. She also ran executive corporate decision making boards, Performance Board, Investment Committee and Departmental Audit and Risk committees, so understands what makes excellent governance.
This is her first Non Exec-Director role.
Tarun is a Chartered Accountant and member of the Worshipful Company of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales. He held senior management roles with various financial services companies before returning to practice with Grant Thornton where he established a leading advisory practice focused on speciality lending businesses. In 2018 he established his own consulting business, TMA, which continues to offer financial services sector advisory services.
Raj is a qualified accountant with over 25 years of experience in Finance and Risk Management. Raj was instrumental in implementing effective risk management processes and financial controls for the PRA/FCA-regulated Citi UK Consumer Bank. Raj has also worked in many other areas, including transformation and regulatory policy.
Raj holds other NED and Board member positions including L&Q Homes and HTS Group. He also worked as a NED at both Breast Cancer Care and SignHealth, therefore bringing experience in the charity and care sectors.
