The Best Christmas Activities in Leeds 2023.

With most people having a few days off over the coming weeks, we’ve taken a look at some of the best activities Leeds has to offer this Christmas.

Christmas comes but once a year and after what has been quite a stressful 12 months, many of us are ready to make the most of it with some days out between now and the New Year.

But with so many incredible destinations in Leeds to choose from, where should you go? Here are a few of our suggestions:

The Christmas Market.

After a long four years away, the Christmas Market is finally back!

Bigger and better than ever, the Market’s new iteration has outgrown Millennium Square and spread out to 13 locations across the city centre – including at The Headrow, New Briggate, Bond Street and more – meaning its 120+ Bavarian-style stalls will be easily accessible from every direction. Good news for fans of Bratwurst, mulled wine and homemade gifts!

Head over from 10am any day between now and Friday 22nd December to get in the festive spirit.

Winter Wonderfest at Wellington Place.

For a variety of fun festive activities for all the family, make a beeline for Wellington Place.

As well as screenings of classic Christmas films like Elf, there’s also a festive market, crafting sessions, children’s story telling and carol singing.

All the events are offered on a pay-as-you-feel basis, with proceeds donated to Yorkshire Children’s Charity, allowing visitors to have fun while also making a positive difference.

Magical Night At The Queens.

From Friday 15th to Saturday 23rd December, The Queens Hotel will be transformed into a life-sized gingerbread house!

Utilising no fewer than seven projectors to cast a heartwarming film onto the hotel’s exterior, visitors will be able to follow The Gingerbread Man as he enjoys a ‘Magical Night at the Queens’, meeting festive friends along the way!

Although short (the film only lasts for 10 minutes), you’re unlikely to miss a showing if you’re in the city centre – it will run every half hour between 4:30pm and 8:30pm!

New Station Street City Square, Leeds. LS1 1PJ.

Ice Cube.

One of Leeds’ top festive attractions, Ice Cube comprises an ice rink, a family funfair, market stalls, a ski bar and Thor’s tipi, guaranteeing a great day out for everyone!

Enjoy a wintery trek through the North Pole at the funhouse, ride the illuminated big wheel, soar high into the sky on the epic Starflyer, then grab some food and drink to re-energise you to do it all over again!

Ice Cube is already up and running and will be in Leeds until New Year’s Eve.

Millennium Square, Leeds. LS2 3AD.
